Community Learning
Services (CLC)
This community resource is probably
one of the most used and useful resources within the student community at Keefe
Avenue School. The CLC program provides
students with homework help, dinner, socialization, and various gym
activities. The students get choose
between several different activities after they complete their homework. Many of the boys play basketball and most of
the girls choose to take a hip hop class from 4-5pm. The entire goal of this
organization is to help keep students out of trouble and focused on academics
and positive, productive after school activities.
“Milwaukee Public Schools’ 21st
Century Community Learning Centers (CLCs) help strengthen families, reduce
crime and improve neighborhoods. Open
after school, evenings, weekends and during the summer, the CLCs are committed
to learning, enrichment and support activities that help lesson exposure to
negative influences. Ultimately, a CLC
builds a strong neighborhood and makes our community a better place to
live.” --Mission Statement.
